Homemade Chinese Dinner!

I have a close Chinese friend who is also a colleague of mine. Yesterday, I slept over at her tiny studio apartment since I had to be up early in the morning and make my way over to Gangnam to pick up some clients for work (on a goddamn Sunday), and her place just happened to be much more convenient than mine. 

Well, I had to work on the Saturday before as well, and when I arrived at her place around 9, she had an authentic Chinese dinner waiting for me! She'd tidied up the place a bit as well, which for such a messy person as herself, was a pretty big feat.

Noodles with egg, tomato and soy sauce. She didn't give me a name for this.
Cooked bok choy and mushrooms! I think bok choy is the Cantonese way of saying it?! Because Fangyin, who is from Beijing, calls it something else.

This one isn't Chinese food, just some leftover chicken :P


Along with some nice sparkling white wine, I had a perfect dinner. Dessert was cookies from Jenny Bakery, a hard-to-obtain gift she got from Hong Kong. We spent the rest of the evening drinking some more wine and watched The Butterfly Effect, which I found to be a pretttyyyy good movie. The way one little change in the past can make a completely different future. It was heartbreaking when Ashton Kutcher's character (forgot the name already... I think I'm tired) realizes a future that involves the girl he loves will always end up unhappy for either him or some other loved one like his friend or mother, so he uses his one last chance to change the past again and make sure he and the girl never cross paths later on in life. Only then does everything fall back into place. I honestly did not expect that to happen... and now I've just learned that there's a Butterfly Effect 2 and 3! Not sure if it will be as good as the original, but I'm definitely considering checking it out.

    And oh btw. 90s has loads of good music beside Savage Garden's. But yes. They were pretty popular back then. #heh

Here's my story behind this song and its lyrics: I came across this song by total chance (via a remix made in 2013) and I was completely hooked. I hadn't heard of the singer Andrea Martin before, so obviously this song was unfamiliar too. But something about it drew me in and this is all I listened to for the past couple of days. If you're well aware of the sensations from plucking your eyebrows, or have tried strip waxing on safer areas like the legs or arms, you would surely be intimidated by the mere thought of having that exact sharp and prickly pain brought upon your most intimate area, where the skin is much thinner and super sensitive.
