Where can I get coconut cream cake in Korea? Pls help.

No seriously tho. I've never tasted it before but I have this massive inexplicable craving for coconut cream cake, and it's killing me. I first came across it when reading "The Reptile Room," the second book in A Series of Unfortunate Events... which I read when I was a kid, and didn't give much thought to. And then for some reason I got all nostalgic a couple of years ago and read the whole series again, and when I read about this coconut cream cake, I wanted to taste it so bad and I've been thinking about it ever since. I mean, if it's got coconut, and if it's creamy, and if it's cake, it's gotta be heavenly, right?

THIS is the type I want.

I even find myself googling photos of coconut cream cake from time to time, imagining the taste. And I can't seem to find any bakeries or shops in Korea that sell it - I see coconut cream PIES, at Itaewon, but not cake (though the pie sounds really good too... must give it a try someday). And there was something similar at Peggy's Pie in Seoul, but it was a bit different from what I wanted and so I was disappointed. I want to eat it so bad but I can't, and it's driving me nuts. Can't even make it myself because I don't have an oven.

This isn't the first time I'm craving something I've never tried, actually. There are a few more items on the list - some of which I've tried and others I haven't (but still desparately long to). Might as well list them here while I'm at it:

1. The Help - Minny's Chocolate Pie + Fried Chicken

The scene where Celia and Minny make fried chicken together and then eat it - DAT CRUNCH. I've had some pretty good fried chicken (it's the ultimate Korean comfort food) but that crunch makes me drool.

And of course, the scene where Hilly eats Minny's shit. Regardless of how much shit was in there, the way Hilly ate it was out of this world. I'm STILL dying to know what that pie tastes like. When she's talking with her mouth full, you can just HEAR the rich, creamy, chocolatey filling.

2. Gossip Girl - Pumpkin Pie

On the Thanksgiving episode of Gossip Girl a few years back (I forget which season) there's a scene where Blair eats pie. I think it was pumpkin pie, because prior to this episode I had never even given pumpkin pie a second thought. "Pumpkin" and "sweet" just didn't seem to go together for me. But after watching this episode I suddenly craved pumpkin pie before even trying it. And when I actually did get to try it, it was as delicious as I had imagined! Pumpkin pie isn't common in Korea but not impossible to get hands on: you can get gigantic pumpkin pies at Costco and although the crust there is a bit crap, I absolutely love it. Mmmmmm.

3. My Name is Kim Sam Soon - Sushi

This drama is still one of my favorites, even though it's been over ten years now. There's a scene where the main character's ex eats sushi to prove to his mom that she's healthy but then sort of chokes on it and can't digest it and gets sick. It's weird, I know, but the way she ate sushi looked so good that sushi just instantly became yummy for me after that, even though I couldn't eat sushi or sashimi. This drama was my cure, and now I'd DIE FOR SUSHI. HAND ME A PLATE AND I WILL CLEAR IT.

*EDIT* 4. Matilda - Chocolate

I remember thinking the chocolate that Matilda and Miss Honey shared looked so scrumptious and delightful. Every time I had chocolates out of a box, I always hoped it would taste as I imagined the chocolate from Matilda. Most of the time I was disappointed, until I chanced upon See's Candies which surprisingly exceeded my expectations and now it is my favorite boxed chocolate of all time!!! Shame it's not common in Korea, and is hella expensive, but I'm glad I fulfilled my wish of tasting this chocolate. So. Good.

Right. So out of the five foods mentioned here, I've still got 3 to go. Maybe two, because I think I found a similar fried chicken place although it didn't quite have that CRUNCH. And I hope to God I will have a chance to taste the rest of them before I die.

How to Karaoke in Korea: Step-By-Step Instructions

Korean/Japanese karaoke is completely different from the karaoke you might be accustomed to. For one thing, it's not done in a bar; it's an individual room you get to yourselves (the group you're with) so the singing is not done in public for everyone to see. It's popular among kids and teenagers as well as adults - so though we Koreans are used to singing sober, I've heard a lot of foreigners say they'd need to be tipsy at least, if they ever wanted to try such a thing. :D And of course, it's something you would never be able to do alone (though I have gone by myself a couple of times LOL). Now, if you can find a Korean who is willing to take you to karaoke, that's awesome. But what if you're with your friends visiting Korea, and you really want to go try, but you don't have anyone to guide you and you can't speak Korean? It would be a complete shame for you not to experience one of the ultimate Korean pastimes before you go! Even if you

Andrea Martin - Breaking Of My Heart (Lyrics)

Here's my story behind this song and its lyrics: I came across this song by total chance (via a remix made in 2013) and I was completely hooked. I hadn't heard of the singer Andrea Martin before, so obviously this song was unfamiliar too. But something about it drew me in and this is all I listened to for the past couple of days. I wanted to know the lyrics and googled it... and I couldn't find anything. There are lyric pages under this song title but it's completely wrong, probably a different song or something. This was a rare occasion in which Google failed me, and I was completely baffled. I'm guessing this song wasn't very well known if the lyrics were this hard to find, but still. Anyway, so for the handful of people in search of the lyrics like me, I've tried transcribing the song myself. Some parts weren't very clear so I just wrote what seemed reasonable, but they can totally be wrong. If anyone could provide the offiical lyrics that woul

Brazilian Wax in Korea at [Beauty Friends Gangnam]

A girl's first bikini wax, let alone Brazilian, can be quite daunting. If you're well aware of the sensations from plucking your eyebrows, or have tried strip waxing on safer areas like the legs or arms, you would surely be intimidated by the mere thought of having that exact sharp and prickly pain brought upon your most intimate area, where the skin is much thinner and super sensitive. That being said, I have no idea what I was thinking when I went for the all-nude Brazilian wax instead of going for standard bikini on my first try. But anyhow, since I've got my first experience out of the way, it doesn't seem like such a big deal.
